Official ESA® is a registered trademark of Support Pets and does not imply any endorsement, approval, or requirement by any government agency. Support Pets connects individuals with independently licensed mental health professionals. ESA documentation is issued only after a clinical evaluation in compliance with federal and state law. Under federal guidelines, only individuals with a qualifying disability that substantially limits one or more major life activities may be eligible for an emotional support animal, and such eligibility does not include impairments resulting from the current illegal use of drugs. For California residents: ESA letters may only be provided by a California-licensed mental health professional after a minimum 30-day therapeutic relationship (AB 468). ESA documentation does not certify a pet as a service animal under the ADA, and no gear, tags, IDs, vests, or accessories confer any legal rights or status. Misrepresentation of a service animal or emotional support animal may result in penalties under applicable state law.
